Practical Strategies to get kids to try new foods - News Segment

I recommend a Feeding framework called the division of responsibility developed by Ellyn Satter, registered dietitian and family therapist.  Parents or caregivers are responsible for the what, when, and where of feeding and children are responsible for the how much and whether to eat of what you provide. What this means is that as parents we have areas we can set control over, but ultimately, our children choose what to put into their body.  As you can imagine there is a lot more that goes into this, but if we think about this with feeding, we can think about where our responsibilities lie as parents. This approach really emphasizes wanting our children to grow up with a healthy relationship with food. Meaning, we want to feed them from a place of trust, without brides, forcing or creating power struggles.
