Nut-free Spinach and Avocado Pesto

Dips, dressings and sauces are one of my favorite toddler food items. For some little ones, they can be a great vehicle for new foods. One of our favorite dips/ sauces is pesto. Most store bought pestos contain nuts, which can be challenging for little ones with food allergies. We decided to try something new: a nut-free pesto made with spinach and avocado. Most of the members of our household are huge garlic fans, so this recipe was a big win for us. This is a great addition to a pasta, or just a dip for veggies and crackers. Enjoy!


Nut-free Spinach and Avocado Pesto

Ingredients:

  • 2 avocados

  • About 1/4 cup loose basil

  • About 1 cup loose spinach

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • 1/4 tsp salt or garlic salt)

  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth

  2. Enjoy with your favorite pasta, vegetables, crackers or anything else you would like.
