Pasta is typically a favorite food among young children. It can also be a great baby-led weaning food, as babies are easily able to pick up pieces of pasta. I love to pack a nutritional punch into foods I know my kids will eat, so what better way than powering up a pasta sauce? I created this lentil pasta sauce, which was basically cooking lentils and adding canned tomatoes (= easy!). My girls love the sauce as-is, though it could be blended a bit as well for a smoother finish. Enjoy!
Lentil Pasta Sauce
- 1 cup lentils, green, rinsed and sorted through
- 2 cups water
- 1 can diced, stewed tomatoes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp garlic and herb seasoning
Combine all above ingredients in large pot and or dutch oven over medium heat, once boiling turn down heat and simmer for about 45 minutes. Enjoy with your favorite pasta.
